I'm Just Really Proud of This, Okay?

Photobucket My apologies if you follow me on instagram, twitter, or facebook and have already seen and heard about this cake one too many times.

But this cake took me all day to make and I really love the way it turned out. So I'm going to share it on all of the social media I can!

I saw the awesome ombre cake idea on Pinterest (isn't that how all projects start nowadays) and went from there. I originally was going to do 6 layers, but 2 of them had a little crumbling accident, so I made it 4 layers instead. Good thing, too, because all of the frosting I used on this cake took 6 STICKS OF BUTTER. Whoa nugget.

Here are the things I learned while making this monster of a cake:

-Use an awesome non-stick spray like this one and your cakes will pop right out of the pan.

-Always cool your cake layers in the freezer for a few hours before frosting. It really helps.

-Use either a serrated knife or a cake leveler to flatten all the cakes to be the same size. I tried to do mine with a knife and it didn't go so well. Cake levelers are way more awesome.

-Research awesome cake techniques from people who are better at this stuff, like this.

Alright, I'm done showing off. Thank you for indulging me. :)

It's wonderful! I always have to toot my own horn when I bake. Like uh, a couple days ago I posted a healthy version of raspberry chocolate cake...but really, I only posted because I thought it was pretty :)
