Celebrating Autumn

Happy Friday!! Today I'm linking up to the massive Oct. 28 Follower Fest, so I'm going to share some things that have really made my autumn enjoyable (despite the not-so-cool weather here in Vegas).

This fall, I carved pumpkins with some friends. But of course!

It was a Harry Potter themed carving, with my new Time Turner necklace, courtesy of Sarah from A Lost Feather. I'm such a nerd. Oh well. Deal with it.

Though it may not be very cool outside just yet, I've still been loving snuggling up in a warm bed with kitty, Anya and a great read (Matched!).

Speaking of snuggling in beds, I've also been wearing a lot of pajamas. Gotta stay cozy!

And last, but not least, I have been baking quite a bit this season! I made my first pie (pumpkin) and tried lots of other recipes. And also documented it with my pretty instax camera!

What is autumn without some hot chocolate??

What have you done this fall? Do you have any traditions that are a must? Please share!

Thanks for stopping by!

Random posssst

It seems that by the time every Wednesday comes around, I have some silly pictures from my camera or phone to show you. And of course, here are some more!

When I procrastinate straightening my hair until around 3 PM, the sun shines through our bathroom and gets in my eyes. And one shouldn't be blind while working with a hot tool. So, sunglasses came to the rescue! And Scott's laughter and picture-taking ensued.

Last week while Scott and I were talking in our bedroom, Anya decided to take a tour of the underwear drawer... ha! As weird as that sounds, it was adorable.

And here is my Instax picture of the week! I was trying to show off my new married name engraved on my new scriptures, but I guess I tilted the camera the wrong way and this happened. It still looks artsy or something like that, so I'll take it.

And now a little update on my spending freeze:

It's been really hard. I mean, it's just a month without buying clothes or thrifting one little thing, etc. But it's stinking hard. haha. I'm sad to admit that I've slipped up a couple of times. But, both were thrifting experiences and were really good deals. Ha, don't you love my justification?

With the holidays coming closer and closer, I think it's such a good idea to just put off getting a few things now, and save up for some cool things for Christmas!

This week, these are the things I'm going to remember that I have and use instead of getting something new:

Our Kindle (I'm re-reading Matched before the sequel comes out next week. Which, for the record was gifted to me in advance for my birthday in June.)
My Q&A-a-day journal
Our VHS collection- watch some old favorites
Whatever food is in our kitchen
Sew some projects using fabric I already have

Do you have things at home you've forgotten about? Will you choose one thing you'll do at home to save money? No pressure, it's just a super awesome idea. :)

What I Wore: Ray of Sunshine

Dress: courtesy of eShakti Shoes: Target Belt: Forever 21

When I walked into the elementary school to help my mother-in-law the other day, I was wearing this dress. The ladies at the front desk told me it looked like I was doing a model walk on my way through the doors and that I looked like a "ray of sunshine".

Not 10 seconds later, as I entered the library, a little girl told me I looked "scary today". And her friends murmured in agreement. I had to check that my make-up wasn't smeared or something. Haha, really? It was a funny contrast.

But srsly. This dress! When eShakti asked me to do a product review, I was really excited. They directed me to their website, and wow, it is cool, guys! Not only can you pick from a great selection of dresses, but you can customize it to fit you. You can choose the length of the dress, the shape of the neckline, etc. I measured myself and got this dress custom made to fit me. And I specifically asked for the hem to fall below the knee, so it could be modest.

And when it came in the mail, I was super excited! I immediately tried it on and it fit like a glove. It fit the specifications and measurements I sent in. So if you're a little on the taller or shorter side or just want something to fit your body perfectly, this is a great company to go through. Their clothes are gorgeous, and can be made just for you!

I cannot get over that adorable collar. And the sleeves! I LOVE my dress. :)

Plain and Precious Things: Uneventful Week

It's been a pretty uneventful week. But luckily for you, I still documented it. Here are little things that made me smile this week:

After 9 months of living in our casita, I finally decided to do some dusting and decorating. I know, 'terrible wife award'. It feels nice to have something pretty to look at in my house now!

Mmm. Thanks to Elsie's homemade peanut butter cup recipe, my husband was a very happy man for about 2 days (approximately how long they lasted). I've been a cooking woman lately!

We watched some childhood classics this week. Snow White I haven't seen in years, Beauty and the Beast was my favorite movie as a child (along with Lion King), and Willy Wonka will forever be a classic. The new one is disgusting in comparison. Gene Wilder for the win!

We had a campfire with some friends and one of them brought some TMNT ice cream bars! These are just like the ones you get at an ice cream truck. Oh, the memories were flooding back. They even had the little gumball eyes!

And lastly, I just wanted to say that I love this book (which contains many books...haha). It truly turned my day around yesterday. I'm so grateful for the gospel (learn more here).

How was your week? What little things made you smile?

Alright, you asked for it.

"Here comes the smolder."

Haha! This picture cracks me up! It's also cute. But it immediately made me think of the smolder from Tangled. What can I say? I married a babe.

Also, here is my Instax picture for the week (and by "week" I mean "last week")!

Just a small part of our VHS collection.
Guys, I will seriously love vintage things until the day I die. Old things are so fascinating! My fave TV shoes are definitely Pawn Stars and American Pickers. I love learning about old things! And VHS's remind me of my childhood. I'm all about remembering fun times like that :)

Are you interested in vintage/old things?

P.S. I was featured here. Check it out!
P.S.S. (or is it P.P.S.?) There's a wonderful giveaway here that I'd like to win, so please don't enter! :)

What I Wore 10/16/11

Top- Downeast Basics Sweater- Unknown, old Skirt- Modcloth Shoes- Forever Young, UT Pearls- Grandma's

This is what I wore to church on Sunday! We have 9 o'clock church and let's just say... I'm not a morning person. So this is my typical 2nd day hairdo. Quick bun!

I love this skirt so much. I feel like I'd wear it everywhere if it wasn't dry clean only. Ya gotta be careful with those ones. Did I mention that this skirt also has pockets?! Bonus!

Yeah, that last shot is just to remind us all that outfit pictures are awkward.

This weekend we basically just watched a lot of Disney movies, which you might know if you follow me on Instagram (username- kceddie). If you're on Instagram, let me know your username, I want to see your pretty pictures :)

I hope your weekend was fun! Have a happy Monday! (well, as happy as a Monday can be)!!

Lazy Friday Post

I have not posted a lot this week! Sorry, it's been busy. I know. Excuses, excuses. Here is a lazy Friday post for you.

(sneak peak of some pictures taken by Katrina B Photography! LOVE them!)

The ABC's of Kaycie

Age: 20

Bedsize: Queen. We used to have a King and it was glorious. It was a sad day indeed when we had to downsize.

Chores that you hate: I don't mind chores, but when there is a big stack of dishes or a huge pile of laundry, I go into freak out mode. I can't let things get built up like that or I get overwhelmed.

Dogs: Yorkies are my favorite!

Essential start to your day: Cereal/breakfast. I'm STARVING in the mornings and have to eat something before I do anything else. Usually that something is cereal.

Favorite color: Today it is purple.

Gold or silver: Usually I like silver but lately I've been liking gold.

Height: 5' 7"

Instruments you play: Flute and my vocal chords :)

Job title: Student and Wife

Kids: I love them and yet they drive me crazy. I want them... someday. :)

Live: Nevada

Mother's name: Christine

Nicknames: Kayc, Gardner (dad calls me this), Dear (Scott calls me this)

Overnight hospital stays: Maybe once when I was little and had tear duct surgery. Hopefully not again anytime soon!

Pet peeves: Lately it's been kids who think they know everything. Actually, you don't. You're only 5 years old. haha.

Quote from a movie or TV show:

"We are the music makers. We are the dreamers of dreams."

Righty or lefty: Righty.

Siblings: 2 younger sisters and one older brother.

Time you wake up: The past few months this has varied a lot. Lately I've been waking up at 5 to let out the cat from the bathroom and then I'll go back to sleep later.

Underwear: I wear it... don't you?

Vegetable you hate: Squash. Bleh.

What makes you run late: Waking up late or not giving myself enough time to get ready.

Yummy food you make: Ooh. I love making food. I make a mean pumpkin waffle with buttermilk syrup. Would anyone like that recipe for fall? Hmmm?

Zoo animal: Hard choice! If we're talking favorites. I love peacocks and giraffes!
