Plain and Precious Things: Schtuff

It's Friday once again! Hooray! Weekends to me mean more time with Scott. Gotta love the ooey gooey newlywed love :)

Here are some little things that made me smile this week:

I got a little package in the mail from ModCloth! I've been loving this site and its adorable clothes foreverrr and finally went for it. I'll show you my skirt soon!

This is our little lizard friend that comes out at night. I guess he likes the porch light that we leave on. Yes, it's a terrible picture, but if I got any closer he would run away!

Yesterday I got some gel eyeliner per recommendation of Chelsea and tried my first cat eye! Not bad for my first, I'd say. Obvi, I still have some work to do. But it was fun trying something new with my makeup routine. I've been doing the same thing for years. Ha, I need to branch out.

This is a little pumpkin hat for kitty, Anya. We stopped by the pet store to grab some food and on our way, ran into pet Halloween costumes. I couldn't resist! Getting it on her will be another story.

And THESE little yummies probably were the highlight of my week. I really wanted to go down to a cupcake shop to get some, but we had everything to make them! BAM. I quartered the recipe and it still made 9 cupcakes. Crazy sauce. Mmm... red velvet.

Forget Not

I know it's been heard all over the LDS community, but I just wanted to share my thoughts on the forget-me-nots.

I find it funny that I'll walk out of a church meeting, feeling like the speaker spoke directly to me. What they said was exactly what I needed to hear. That was my talk. And then as I'm exiting the building, I overhear at least 5 other girls say the same thing.

It's made me realize that we're all very similar. We all go through the same trials and heartache. And the gospel contains the answers for all of us. It is the solution.

So, as you probably guessed, I loved President Uchtdorf's talk (watch it here!). He's so sweet and his message really hit home with me (and lots of other women). I realized a lot of things during that talk, but none were so powerful as learning to be happy now.

I want to live somewhere else. I often focus on the negative parts of living where I do. Living with near a lot of people who share my faith is a good desire, but sometimes it isn't what the Lord has in mind. My idea of how things should be isn't nearly as grand as the plan the Man Upstairs has. He knows all and knows the best plan. I simply need to trust in him.

Instead of waiting until we can move, or waiting until I have the perfect hair length, or waiting to have a nice camera to be happy, I can be happy now. There are so many good things all around me. I have simply been too stubborn to see them. They are hard to see, but once found, the forget-me-nots are some of the most beautiful flowers of all.

Those who are happiest in life aren't the ones with the most things. The happiest people make the most of the things they have.
